Riding Lessons
Private and group instruction
Every lesson starts with safely catching your horse and leading it to the barn. The rider then has 15
minutes to groom and tack their horse, and meet the instructor in the riding ring. We recommend
the rider arrives 5-10 minutes early to retrieve their horse. Riders should have a solid 45 minute
lesson, ending with cooling their horse and putting it back in the stall for the day.
Sweet Meadow Farm does not offer make-up lessons. Considerable time goes into planning lessons
with instructors and reserving horses for riders, therefore it is the responsibility of the rider to come
to lessons and be on time. In the event that the instructor cancels a lesson, a make-up lesson will be
re-scheduled at the convenience of the rider.
Evaluation Rides allow instructors to see the “rider to be” in action.
From beginner to professional, the ride will determine what class and level the rider is put into.
Beginners, who may need a little extra time to practice the basics, may be asked to take a few
weeks of private lessons until they can tack their own horse and walk/trot without any help.
