Riding Lessons
We offer lessons for ages 4 and older at all riding levels.
Lessons are offered September-May 11am-8pm, Monday-Friday and Saturdays 9am-5pm.
Lessons June-August are offered Monday-Friday 8am, 3pm-5pm and Saturdays.

Lessons are booked on a weekly schedule and each month is paid prior to the 1st of the month. We also offer one-time riding sessions; payment is due prior to the date of the lesson.
(We are currently full for lessons on Saturdays and after 1pm Monday-Friday. Please join our waitlist for future openings.)
The Horseback Riding Semesters Run as Follows:
Semester 1 | September – November |

All students will meet their instructor in our viewing room.
Riders must be dressed appropriately with soft, stretchable pants/jeans, boots with a heel and weather appropriate shirts and jackets and riding helmet.
It is possible to borrow riding boots and a helmet.
Half Riding Lessons:
For ages 4-6, a half-hour private lesson with one of our highly skilled instructors. Students help groom and tack up the horse (~10min.), ride (~20min.) Students learn about horsemanship and basics of riding. They will start with steering, stopping, trotting, and proper positioning.
Price is $70 per lesson
Private Riding Lessons:
For ages 7+, an hour-long private lesson with one of our highly skilled instructors. Students help groom and tack up the horse (~15min.), ride (~40min.), and untack(~5min.) at the end of their lesson. Students will advance through the various stages of riding as their instructor sees fit. Each lesson is tailored to the individual student. All levels are welcome, beginner to advanced!
Price is $95 per lesson
Group Riding Lessons:
Group riding lessons are offered to those students who are advanced enough to control the horse without the full attention of the instructor. Instructors match riders with similar skill level and experience for double or triple lessons. Every rider must start in a private lesson and may request a group lesson.
Price is $70 per lesson
Cancellation Policy:
You must contact us 24 hours before your lesson to cancel in order to recieve a credit that can be applied for later use. No refunds just credit memos are issued.
Please call or email during business hours (between 10am-6pm) to reschedule your lesson without being charged. If you cancel within 24 hrs of your lesson, you will be charged the full price of your lesson.Considerable time goes into planning lessons with instructors, paying instructors and reserving horses for riders, therefore it is the responsibility of the rider to come to lessons and be on time.
Disclaimer:
Lessons DO NOT take place on days that SMF has camp. Those dates will be available to everyone enrolled in lesson programs.
Mini Riders
Does your youngest want to play with animals and can’t wait for their first pony ride? Sweet Meadow Farm’s patient and well-trained animals are ready to introduce your child to a lifelong love!
At our 45 minute class parents and children learn how to handle and care for our animals. We have a wide variety of over 100 animals that call Sweet Meadow Farm home. Our residents include a wallaby, potbelly pigs, goats, rabbits, an emu, and more! This unforgettable experience also includes a hand-led pony ride, feeding hay to our barnyard animals, giving treats in the bird room, and meeting the animals in the pet shop.
Sessions available on a seasonal basis. Ages 1-5. Weight limit 55lb.
September – May: Offered Monday through Thursday at 10:15am-11:00am
Programs take place in our insulated and heated barn, all year round.

**Must be Pre-Registered – No Drop-In’s**
The child must be under 3 1/2 ft tall and under 55 lbs.:
to ride the mini horse, since they are so small. A parent is welcome and encouraged to participate in their child’s one-on-one learning experience. The cost of the class includes one child and the parents or guardian.
Please wear close-toed shoes or boots and long pants.
Cancellation Policy:
Full payment is due at the time of registration. Sweet Meadow Farm does not give credit and/or refunds if participants miss or cancel any of the Programs’ classes.
Important Notice:
We will only be running the program if 2 or more students are signed up for the day. We reserve the right to cancel the class and refund or credit payment of the class.
COVID-19 Policies
COVID-19 Sweet Meadow Farm Policies
Practices Implemented for Sweet Meadow Farm Programs
- Limited contact between rider and instructor
- Sanitize and disinfect saddle, reins, exc in-between riders
- Require instructors to sanitize hands between lessons.
- Sweet Meadow Staff is constantly disinfecting door knobs and common surfaces: Tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets and sinks etc.
- In the main riding ring, door will remain open as well as opportunity to conduct lessons outside (weather permitting)
- Conducting daily health checks for employees and children that exhibit symptoms: Fever, body aches, fatigue, couch, congestion, sore throat, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, loss of smell/taste, confusion, new rash, and/or changes to hands and feet
- Conducting a hazard assessment of the workplace
- Require employees, students, and children to comply with current state guidelines to wear cloth face coverings at all times: Avoid frequently touching your mask
- Implementing policies and practices for social distancing
- Limit groups to 10 people to follow social distancing guidelines
- Lunch and snacks will be eaten in set areas 6′ apart
- Implement drive-thru camp drop-off, where parents remain in the vehicle
Screening Children Upon Arrival (if possible)
- Persons who have a fever of 100.40 or above or other signs of illness will not be admitted to the facility. We will encourage parents to be on the alert for signs of illness in their children and to keep them home when they are sick. Screen children upon arrival, if possible.
- Reliance on Social Distancing
- We will ask parents/guardians to take their child’s temperature either before coming to the facility or upon arrival at the facility.
- We will ask the parent/guardian to confirm that the child does not have: Fever, body aches, fatigue, couch, congestion, sore throat, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, loss of smell/taste, confusion, new rash, and/or changes to hands and feet
- We will then make a visual inspection of the child for signs of illness which could include flushed cheeks, rapid breathing or difficulty breathing (without recent physical activity), fatigue, or extreme fussiness.
- Children and staff are required to stay 6′ apart and must wear facial covering at all times.
Safe Behavioral Practices to be Followed
- Social distancing (specifically staying 6 feet away from others when you must go into a shared space)
- Frequently washing hands or use alcohol-based (at least 60% alcohol) hand sanitizer
- Wearing cloth face coverings until the State deems is safe to forgo wearing them
- Avoiding touching eyes, nose, and mouth
- Staying home when sick
- If a child is suspected to be sick: Make a visual inspection of the child for signs of illness which could include flushed cheeks, rapid breathing or difficulty breathing (without recent physical activity), fatigue, extreme fussiness, or new unexlplained rash
- Ask the parent/guardian to confirm that the child does not have: Fever, body aches, fatigue, couch, congestion, sore throat, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, loss of smell/taste, confusion, new rash, and/or changes to hands and feet
- Ask parents/guardians to take their child’s temperature either before coming to the facility or upon arrival at the facility. Upon their arrival, stand at least 6 feet away from the parent/guardian and child.
Parent Drop-Off and Pick-Up
- This will be a drive-thru drop off and pick up. Parents will remain in their vehicles to drop their child off
- Hand hygiene stations will be set up at the entrance of the facility, so that children can clean their hands before they enter. If a sink with soap and water is not available, we will provide hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol next to parent sign-in sheets. Keep hand sanitizer out of children’s reach and supervise use.
- Have camp staff greet children outside as they arrive.
- Ideally, we will encourage the same parent or designated person to drop off and pick up the child every day. If possible, older people such as grandparents or those with serious underlying medical conditions should not pick up children, because they are more at risk for severe illness from COVID-19.
Healthy Hand Hygiene Behavior to be Followed
- All children and staff will engage in hand hygiene at the following times:
- Arrival to the facility and after breaks
- Before and after preparing food or drinks
- Before and after eating or handling food, or feeding children
- Before and after administering medication or medical ointment
- After using the toilet or helping a child use the bathroom
- After coming in contact with bodily fluid
- After handling animals or cleaning up animal waste
- After playing outdoors or in sand
- After handling garbage
- Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If hands are not visibly dirty, alcohol-based hand sanitizers with at least 60% alcohol can be used if soap and water are not readily available.
- Supervise children when they use hand sanitizer to prevent ingestion.
- Assist children with handwashing
- After assisting children with handwashing, staff should also wash their hands.
- Place posters describing handwashing steps near sinks.
Girls & Boys’ Scouts and Field Trips
Bring your Troops to Sweet Meadow Farm for an hour meeting to earn your Horse Riding or Animal Badge!
Animal Badge
Your troop will enjoy hands-on time with a variety of animals including bunnies, horses, chickens, goats, miniature ponies, an emu, a wallaby, miniature cows, and more! Learn how to care for, groom and feed all these animals to earn your badge.
Animal Badge
Each child will learn how to handle, care for, groom, and tack up their horse. Each of them will have the opportunity to ride one of our gentle and well-trained horses.
We can accommodate troops of all sizes. Each badge is an hour long, but you can choose to do both in one meeting, and have your troop earn their badges in two hours.
